Silence (2017) Review

The silence of Madrid Scorsese is based on Shu Endo novel of the same name, and I made it for 25 years. Taxi drivers, gangs from New York, Wolf's director at Wall Street are raining in turn at similar levels of violence and beauty, but that is also very unusual.

In silence, two Portuguese priests, Rodriguez (Andrew Garfield) and Garp (Adam Driver) traveled to Japan and received a report that he abandoned Christ, a fellow priest and teacher Ferreira (Liam · Nesson). Japan in the 17th century has proved to be dangerous for two priests and fellow Christians living there. The following are sometimes tortured, sometimes ridiculous, sometimes complex works of age.

The film of Director Scorsese is not impatient. With a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes, it is the second act of drugs and the slog. But - this is strange, I think Scorsese does not necessarily emphasize Silence as an important, interesting movie. This is like ant Malick. Where Marik forces to listen with lyrical beauty, we encourage you to endure misery, with little slowing down of the silence's slow pace. You were able to scrape off a good time from this movie. It is a much better movie, a definitive Oscar candidate, but I think there is a possibility that it will break that purpose.

However, its purpose is unknown. If you are supposed to see this movie for something, please look at that performance. Garfield certainly provides strength that Mark Romaneck did not see since being criminally underestimated "Never Let Me Go". His acting is authentic at all. We all are all we are going to die! Sufficient enough melodrama that a woman sitting next to me laughs, if he had been a little older than Garfield might have pulled it. But again, we get a sense that it is not a point. Garfield's priest, if there is something, will become young and enthusiastic, become increasingly arrogant and broken. In other words, performance was successfully dealt with by the natural strength of Adam Driver. Although Garfield brought some performance characteristics, the driver's naturalism was refreshing, but it was almost restricted to the first act.

Besides the performances, at least the beginning is a beautiful movie. As director of photography Rodrigo Preio will constantly receive a commendation to flush the frame with steam and fog, the first impression of Japan is cloudy beauty. However, the prolonged shot of the first act is quickly abandoned for neutral close-up as violence creeps into the story and the cooler color palette advances to a more neutral brown and amber color. The shooting of Prieto's act of violence is top form, but it pursues his grumpy movements and the dynamics from character to character.

This pace certainly leaves much time for discussion. An elongated chat about the state of religion in Japan and the nature of religion itself has been drawn out, almost completely unnecessary. This movie carries the depictions of religion, but if it is told, it will be complicated. But at the end of the day, the film mediates the power of faith - how it changes and how it survives. The character undergoes the same thought process as the audience does. Please check your sinism on the door for this. Silence is boiled down to an essay piece of almost three hours on the essence of religion, a certain level of sympathy - abandonment of skepticism - but pacing, violence, performances slowly but surely, like all else in the movie Extruded extremely to.

Is silence a beautiful movie? Sometimes, no. Is it traditionally a brilliant movie? I would argue that it is probably not the case. Should you go to see it? Yes. Even after you have walked through the movie it is well experienced and should be considered for a long time. Scorsese's fingerprints soaked along all along at once, academic experience, essays and charges, and love letters to religion all at the same time. On the contrary, it was wonderful.

There is silence now at the cinema.
